Location and Direction Dependent Effects in Collider Physics from Noncommutativity

We examine the leading order noncommutative corrections to the differential and total cross sections for e+ e- --> q q-bar. After averaging over the earth's rotation, the results depend on the latitude for the collider, as well as the direction of the incoming beam. They also depend on scale and direction of the noncommutativity. Using data from LEP, we exclude regions in the parameter space spanned by the noncommutative scale and angle relative to the earth's axis. We also investigate possible implications for phenomenology at the future International Linear Collider.Comment: version to appear in PR

Multiscaling analysis of high resolution space-time lidar-rainfall

Get PDF
In this study, we report results from scaling analysis of 2.5 m spatial and 1 s temporal resolution lidar-rainfall data. The high resolution spatial and temporal data from the same observing system allows us to investigate the variability of rainfall at very small scales ranging from few meters to ~1 km in space and few seconds to ~30 min in time. The results suggest multiscaling behaviour in the lidar-rainfall with the scaling regime extending down to the resolution of the data. The results also indicate the existence of a space-time transformation of the form t~Lz at very small scales, where t is the time lag, L is the spatial averaging scale and z is the dynamic scaling exponent

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT PROCESSES AND SUPPLY CHAINS This Global Edition has been edited to include enhancements making it more relevant to studens outside the United States. The editorial taem at Pearson has worked closely with educators around the globe to include: • NEW! Supply Chain Orientation: This text uniquely builds the concept of a supply chain from the ground up allowing students to see how effective internal processes lead the best supply chairs. • NEW! Streamlined Design: Fewer chapters, less pages, and enhanced clarity allows students to engage each topic efficiently and effectively. Figures and photos have been added to improve the presentation of key concepts and techniques. • NEW! Global Examples and Cases: Examples from Europe, Asia, Middle East and Australia are presented throughout the text for students in these regions to better appreciate the concepts presented

Revitalization of selected brownfields in urban space of Skierniewice with particular emphasis on environmentally friendly elements.

Transformation of urban space is a result of constant changes, which can also lead to a deterioration of the state of such space. City revitalization programs allow for the release of brownfields from crisis situations and adapting them to the needs of local communities, with particular emphasis on environmentally friendly elements. The aim of the article was to present the concept of revitalization activities, proposed for introduction in the brownfield site, in the city of Skierniewice, currently used by Stal-Car. These activities include treatments that can result in the creation of urban public spaces with environmentally friendly elements.

Measurement of Rotational Events in Regions Prone to Seismicity: A Review

Get PDF
On the basis of the explanation of rotational seismology as an area of study, a modern approach to the seismic rotation in various continuum models is summarized. The aim of this chapter is to formulate the fundamental requirements for rotational seismometer. Consequently, a review of all existing technologies of rotational seismometers including mechanical, electrochemical, magnetohydrodynamical, as well as optical type solutions is discussed. The analysis of their parameters that considers technical requirements enforced by rotational seismology has indicated an optical instrument using a Sagnac interferometer as the best solution. Fibre-Optic System for Rotational Events & phenomena Monitoring (FOSREM) with its main parameters and features is described as an example of such solution. Moreover, the example of rotational events recorded in Książ observatory, Poland, using mechanical rotational seismometers and FOSREM is presented. There are data for M = 3.8 earthquake near Jarocin, Poland on the 2012.01.06 at 15:37:56 at a distance of about 200 km from Książ. Although the used devices have totally different designs, the results obtained using FOSREM and the results calculated by mechanical devices show compatibility in rotational signals
